Social Spelunking - Coined!

I'm just making a record of this here for posterity - and to ensure that this, its first use (or at least the first time somebody is officially claiming its use), is timestamped.

I'm Coining the Term "Social Spelunking"

That's when you delve into the recesses of society just to explore what else is really out there. My intent is for this to be used primarily with social media, but it can be expanded.

So Officially ...

1. 1) the act of exploring enclaves of people or cultures unfamiliar to you, especially in social media
2. 2) (pejorative) the act of exploring a culturally unsavory, though generally significant, branch of society

Example:

"I enjoy a little social spelunking from time to time, though the trending topics on Twitter are a pretty scary place."
